EDITING SERVICES

We hold a high level of expectation for the books we edit. When you work with our team, you will receive a professionally edited book that you can shop to a literary agent or publisher or self-publish.

Our topnotch editors have edited scores of books that have been published by the big publishing houses in New York, including Random House and Simon & Schuster. Please review their credentials and see if one stands out to you, or we will choose the editor who we believe would be the best fit for your project.

To figure out an approximate cost for your project, please consider the following:

NON-FICTION

The process for editing non-fiction is as follows: Once an editor has been assigned to your project, she will briefly look over your manuscript (electronic file), and provide you with an estimate for Phase 1.

Phase 1 consists of a Read Through of the entire book and a Written Analysis. If the chapters, or parts of chapters, are out of order and the sequencing is off, the editor will need to do at least one round of developmental editing to put the sections in their rightful order before she can do the line editing where she will polish the text.

At the end of Phase 1, the editor will provide an estimate for Phase 2, which consists of any necessary developmental editing (putting things in their proper sequence), followed by the line editing (polishing text).

Phase 2

We can usually edit 4-6 pages per hour when polishing text. Putting material in its proper order can be timely. Everybody's writing is different, which means that some projects will go faster than others, depending on the strength of the writing.

If you believe that your material is in its right sequence, the editor will skip the Read Through and Written Analysis in Phase 1 and jump into polishing the text. After the book has been edited, we recommend a final proofreading round with one of our proofreaders to make sure all typos have been caught and that punctuation is correct.

FICTION

The process for editing fiction is as follows: First, the editor will read through the entire manuscript. She will then provide an analysis of the material that states what the book needs. At this point, an estimate for the work, including developmental editing, character development, and line editing can be given.
